So far we have been generously mentioned in the danish newspapers, but now it seems that Germany is starting to pick up on the story as well. The YayArtist FredericSean has been mentioned in WAZ today, and we’d like to congratulate FredericSean on the nice article!
Should any other have stories from around the world, big or small, personal or general, papers or blogs, feel free to share :)

Yay, we're celebrating our last yayday before the summer holiday! And we got a really amazing art piece this week - I think, I'll be looking at it the entire summer! Just love it!

This week's winner is the marvelous "Bull" from Scarpio. It is simple, with a really characteristic artistic expression. The calm colours and the dynamic lines just blow me away. Scarpio is from India, and if I recall correctly related to one of our other yayartist? Artistic blood in the family, one must say.

With this art piece we're celebrating that the sun is up, and we need to go enjoy the sun! :D. Ole, our programmer, deserves a well earned summer holiday. He had a rough couple of months, and we really want him to last another year. So we're laying low until mid August.

The YayArt pieces from the running competition will be announced mid August, together with our summer special. All summer, all artist are more than welcome to submit art to the summer special! The summer special lasts for the next seven weeks. We'll collect the art pieces and in the end announce the winner.

The runner ups this week is Amanecer's "Magic Water", TETO's "Dogs", Johanvts' "Metropolis", Pragati's "The Blues", Abbhaysalves "One home.. peace". Yay, yay, yay - let's see what the summer brings.

Who says great art and humor can't go together

It felt like a special occasion today, since I'm leaving for a small week's vacation in London, and so I got a wee bit sentimental being offline so long. So, I looked though some of our old stuff. Some of the pieces just really makes you smile and I thought that was a great thing to share. So here it goes, a little salute for art with a bit of irony, a touch of sarcasm and a whole lot of madness - a favorite blend of mine :)

Top 7 (the official)
7 - NATURE CROWDS by tangi - just crawling over the line because of the lemon sun
6 - Happy Panda by Zero00chris - appropriate number I think
5 - Sleepy Sushi by yauidea - Why would you want to go to sleep there in the first place?
4 - and this little piggy... by EricDiaz - I’ve seen her somewhere before, I’m sure of it
3 - The Beasties Under The Bed by wotto - Who doesn’t remember that feeling
2 - like to show off~ by yayawoo - It this guy eating a carrot?
1 - the winner! - sexual harassment by RedTide - Bad banana! Bad banana!

Also, in slideshow version below

Take care people,

Yay once again it's Tuesday! And this means it's time to celebrate another YayDay!

This weeks YayDay goes to Tang and his "Lost Memory". Congratulations Tang! :)
Tang is from Malaysia. He has written the following about the art piece:

"Sometimes sweet memory of life fades away as time goes by. I hope to depict the 'moment' just before it is forgotten."

Lovely, I think it says it all. Once again the winning art piece is characterized by a great message, an artist with good technical skills, a unique expression and last but not least originality.

This week the the race was really really close, the following were between the top-voted:
Goutam's "Black Beauty", FatPigeon's "Sea of Despair", VectorTherapy's "A Masked Glance ", Amarillo's "Firefleshmachine" and Precurser's "Chrome".

The expression is really different in these pieces! To judge by the winners of the three preceeding YayDays, it's impossible to predict what happens next YayDay! But we've seen a pattern that artists with a talent and a unique expression are loved by the people - and they keep up popping up. So I'm quite excited to see your next submissions - looking forward to next YayDay! :D

The YayDay deal has been settled

This has been interesting for all of us, and it was just a matter of time before this issue would show up. We’d like to thank Trotty for posting the link and Cwerthers for being cool about it, and all the rest of you for voting your opinions. I’m sure that if we could be this thorough with all the pieces, Cwerther wouldn’t be the only one in the spotlight, so throw some love his way, I think he deserves it.

The majority the YayArt community feel that the artwork is too close to the original. We’ve taken the consequence of this, and are crowning DarioBerardi's "Electric Pic.nic" as a new winner. Knowing DarioBerardi's style, my guesstimate is that this one is a fullblood original :)

Congrats to DarioBerardi, you were only marginals behind, so you deserve it :)

Cheers people,

Yay! It's YayDay..

Yay! Once again we're ready to celebrate YayDay! This week we got alot of great pieces. Yay! :) The competition has been though, and we're all really happy to announce the topvoted of this week is Jimmy Tan W H (alias eggstroke) with his art piece "Family"! Yay!

"Family" is an artpiece with a simple yet dynamic expression. It's obvious for everybody that Jimmy Tan W H, has a great talent. This week less is more, and to judge by the many comments, this art piece is loved by a lot of both ordinary people as well as talented artists.

This weeks runner ups are: Goutam's "Divine proportione", Contactosacro's "Fear", Adamsund's "Monitored", Abhaysalve's "Handprint" and Amarillo's "Jellybirds". What amazing pieces to be up against (with one of my favorites between)

Art up for debate..

So we got a lot fuss about the last winner of the YayDay competition. Trotty was so nice to post us a link to a istock photo, which obviously is the base for Cwerthers work. Thanks Trotty, always nice with input.

Trotty's comment has set on a quite interesting debate about creativity and originality. As Ckid says;
”At the end it is for you to deside if a work shows the level of creativity to stand for its own and if it represents YayArt! ...But I think there will be a lot more discussions about copyright to follow because it is a tough field.”

So we were asking ourselves, are we the best to decide? We got a lot of really talented artists here that post new pieces everyday. And as YayArt is made for the artists, we came to the conclusion that we want to hear your opinion. So do you think Cwerthers artwork live up to the spirit of YayArt?

Is this piece qualified to win the YayDay competition?

Please tell us what you think by commenting on this entry. Trotty, Ckid, Danalisa99 and Abhaysalve have contributed with nicely elaborated point of views, but you can just make a short comment with your opinion, ”Qualified” if you think it is good or ”Disqualify” if you think it is too similar. We’ll take your opinion seriously, and your voices will be decisive in the judgement of Cwerthers artwork.

Yay, it's YayDay! :)

This week we're happy and proud to announce the winner of the YayDay Competition, Christian Werther (alias CWerther) with his art piece Extravaganza. Christian is from Denmark, and this piece shows both talent, thought and technical skills. Yay Christian Werther people love it, and your YayArt piece will soon enter the shop! Yay!

But once again, the race was close. I can teel you DarioBerardi's "Electric Pic.nic", Kracko's "Desert Fantasy", Anadika's "Kitty and Cat", Visual80's "Skull adventure" and Amarillos "The Industrial Revolution" were really close in the running to become this weeks YayArtist! What tough art pieces to be up against!
