Art from our previous competitions

I first started with this digital art piece by drawing the basic layout with a paper and pencil. I then scanned it and opened it in Adobe Photoshop. Following this, I used the pen tool to trace the abstract shapes that I had drawn.

For this piece, I wanted to show a contrast between darkness and lightness. To do this, I filled the background with a dark gradient. If you look carefully, I also added a white, diagonal lined pattern on top of the background gradient. To create the brighter portions of the piece, I added paint splatter effects behind the abstract shapes. I also added a very bright, swirly ray of light.

Lastly, I created the text of the piece. The number '07' was placed because the piece was made in the year of 2007. I also placed the exact date of creation. Finally, I named this work, "Unobscured" to portray darkness that has been "Unobscured" and shown the light.
